About Verdant Psychology
Where Insight Meets Transformation
At Verdant Psychology, we're on a mission to make quality psychological assessment and treatment accessible to everyone. We believe understanding yourself is the first step toward becoming your best self.
Meet Dr. Matt Miceli
At Verdant Psychology, our mission is clear: to increase access to psychological assessment and treatment services and empower individuals on their journey to becoming the best version of themselves. We believe that gaining insight into psychological issues is crucial for making positive changes and finding fulfillment.
My Professional Background
I've been helping people understand themselves better since 2015. My professional training includes:
Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology at South Florida State Hospital
Post-Doctoral Residency at Shoreline Psychological Services in St. Petersburg, FL
Active member of the Florida Psychological Association
My research has focused on identifying protective factors against suicide, with several published studies exploring the connections between psychological well-being and suicidal behaviors across diverse populations.
Why I Started Verdant Psychology
While training in a program that emphasized rural mental health care, I witnessed firsthand how difficult it can be for many people to access quality psychological services. Geographic barriers, long wait times, and limited specialist availability often meant people went years—sometimes decades—without the answers they needed.
That's why I built Verdant Psychology as a telehealth practice. This approach allows me to reach people throughout Florida who might otherwise struggle to find specialized assessment services in their area. (And yes, working from home is pretty great too!)

What Makes Us Different
Telehealth Expertise
All our services are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant teleconference platform, making quality psychological assessment accessible throughout Florida. We prioritize data privacy and confidentiality in everything we do.
Real Results That Matter
The most rewarding part of my work is providing people with answers to questions they've had about themselves for years. Whether it's helping someone understand why they've struggled in school since childhood or why their relationships don't last, our evaluations guide people toward self-understanding and positive change.

More Information About Verdant Psychology
-
Absolutely! Our telehealth assessments use the same evidence-based measures and techniques as traditional in-person evaluations. Through our HIPAA-compliant platform, we conduct interviews, administer standardized assessments, and observe behavior just as we would in an office setting. For certain assessments that require visual observation or interaction, we use specialized digital versions designed for telehealth. Research shows that telehealth psychological assessments produce comparable results to in-person assessments for most conditions, while offering the added benefits of comfort, convenience, and access for those with transportation or mobility challenges.

While primary care physicians provide valuable medical care, comprehensive psychological assessment offers several distinct advantages. Primary care visits are typically brief (15-20 minutes) and rely heavily on symptom checklists or questionnaires. In contrast, our psychological assessments involve multiple hours of standardized testing, clinical interviews, and behavioral observations that capture nuances primary care visits might miss. This thorough approach is especially important for conditions like ADHD, learning disorders, or autism spectrum disorder, where symptoms can overlap with other conditions. Our assessments also identify strengths alongside challenges and provide detailed recommendations tailored to your specific profile—something a brief medical visit simply doesn't have time to accomplish.
-
We understand that waiting for answers can be frustrating. Currently, our typical wait time for an initial testing appointment is 2-3 weeks after your consultation, though this may vary based on current demand. As for results, unlike some practices that take 4-6 weeks to deliver reports, we complete most assessment reports within 5 business days of your final testing session. We believe in providing timely feedback so you can begin implementing recommendations and accessing appropriate services as soon as possible.
-
We operate as an out-of-network provider, which means clients pay directly for services and may then seek reimbursement from their insurance company. Many PPO insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for psychological assessments when they're deemed medically necessary. After completing your assessment, we provide detailed documentation and billing codes that maximize your chances of insurance reimbursement. During your free consultation, we can discuss potential costs, payment options, and strategies for insurance reimbursement based on your specific plan.
-
Completing your assessment is just the beginning of your journey. During your feedback session, we'll review your results and recommendations in detail, answering all your questions. We then provide a comprehensive written report you can share with healthcare providers, educators, or employers as needed. While Verdant Psychology doesn't provide long-term therapy services, we offer follow-up consultations to help you implement recommendations and connect you with appropriate specialists or resources based on your assessment results. Our goal is to ensure you have a clear path forward, not just a diagnosis.
